Triton Opal 2 Replacement

Hello,

My Triton Opal 2 9.5kW shower has packed up. From what I've read, it would cost more to fix than to buy a new one. Since it's quite an old shower, I was wondering what would be a good/cheap replacement so that I don't have to do too much work. I called Triton and they told me it's the Triton Riya, but this seems to be an older model, and I can't find one in 9.5kW (they may have presumed I had the 8.5kW model). I've added a photo of the Opal 2. Any ideas for a quick replacement job? I'm not a DIY expert I'm afraid, so I don't want to buy the wrong shower if I can help it.

Thanks in advance.

Why not do a swap over with a newer triton having the water lnlet on r/h/s.

  • Thanks for your quick reply. That sounds like a good idea. So will any Triton shower do that has multiple inlets? For example, the Triton Riba:

I don't know how manageable the multis are, perhaps less painless to look at the models mirroring your service points.

I've swapped over a few tritons for family over the years and all have been straightforward, basically all that was required was a new compression ring.

  • Great, thanks a lot for your response. I'll have a look at the models to see if I can find a matching one. Triton have offered to replace it for £160, including the shower, but that seems like a lot, considering the shower unit will only be about £60.
    Thanks again for your help.

We fit an awful lot of Triton TS80s. They are designed to replace a lot of their range and designed as an easy fit as they have multiple entry points for the electric cable and the water inlet. They come in a range of KW as well. Expect to pay around £140.00

  • @ohreally - Thanks so much for that link. Some nice showers on there. The Cara looks OK for a budget one, so I'll take a proper look at that one to see if it would be a suitable replacement. It does mention that it's a replacement shower for a few models.

@phill99 - Thanks for chipping in. I can't find a Triton TS80. Is it the T80 by any chance, as that's what keeps coming up in Google? If so, there are some good deals on those right now, at around the £90-100 mark. I see the hose outlet is on the right-hand side. On mine, it's just left of the center, with the water pipe on the right. Do you think this would pose a problem with the installation? Sorry - I'm so not a DIYer. My dad will be coming over to help me fit it thankfully, but he's tasked me with finding the replacement.

    My apologies. It's the T80.

the plumbing connection is left or right hand. We've fitted probably a couple of dozen of these in varying scenarios and we haven't had any problems with the location of cold water feed or electrical cables.

  • Great, thanks for the recommendation Phil. It sounds like a good option after reading the description, especially if I can get a deal on it.

I feel a lot more confident going forward thanks to both of you - much appreciated :)
