SSE Swalec - False bills after moving out on pre-payment meters
I moved out of my house with SSE Swalec gas and electricity pre-payment meters. Phoned them on the day with meter readings. Meters were both in credit. Received bills 2 weeks later totalling £25 with no explanation of what for, just details of how to pay. Phoned them, they said "I guess you're calling about your bill, said it's a known issue with old pre-payment issues, the bills are wrong due to meters not updating with price per unit". They cancelled the bills, I said I was actually in credit, they credited me my estimate of what I was in credit (£8) as a goodwill gesture.
Glad I phoned, but feel it was wrong that it was necessary to phone, and many people might have paid the £25 rather than claiming the £8. The company clearly know they have an issue that is causing them to send out incorrect bills, but are still sending them. So I am sharing to hopefully benefit others.
