I told him thank your for the breakdown and that I would just choose to pay for the ones I need but I am still being 'ushered' to pay for the whole package.

I said I will just pick the ones which I need and he said 'you need them all that so the point is it's cheper to go with the one bill option' That seems like I am being strongarmed into it.

I already said that I will chose only the ones and need and he is now telling me I need them all?

I don't need him to do my CT and BB I will sort myself and TV is useless. I feel like I am being cornered into pay the all in one. I don't want to get on his bad side. How do I reaffirm I want to handle my own affairs without him telling me what I 'need'.

Is the property banded for council tax ? https://www.gov.uk/council-tax-bands

Would thoroughly recommend this .....we've got this & when we go away touring in the caravan we simply unplug it from the house & take it with us.

The landlord 'asking' for council tax to be paid via themselves is typically a way of trying to ensure that they stay off the radar and claim council tax discounts/exemptions that they are not entitled to (a very common issue, see many cases of it each year).

Eventually the council find out and then the tenant gets a large backdated council tax demand and has to find the monies for the council whilst trying to chase the landlord for the money back.

  • Does the tenancy describe itself as an AST/ Assured Shorthold tenancy?

Other sorts of agreement MAY permit landlord to say what you get.

But, regardless of paperwork,it might anyway be an AST.
