Packaged bank account reclaim - Lloyds or TSB

Apologies if this is in the incorrect section.
I believe I was mis-sold a packaged account back in 2000 when my bank was Lloyds. I was told I could only have the loan I required at the time if I took the packaged account and I have the statements to support the change of account around the same time as the loan payment.
My account changed to LLoydsTSB and then to a TSB account. The sort code and the account number have never changed and I still have this today, having never changed as I thought I wouldn't get the same overdraft with a new account.
Who do I make my claim to, when I went into the branch the cashier said she didn't know and to look online!
Thanks in advance for your response.

The reclaims section would have been better.I believe I was mis-sold a packaged account back in 2000 when my bank was Lloyds. Having evidence of the change is not important. Having evidence to back up your allegation or at least something that points towards it being likely is what you really need. Otherwise, it just becomes an unprovable allegation.Who do I make my claim to, when I went into the branch the cashier said she didn't know and to look online!
You complain to Lloyds as they took on the historic liability. TSB today is effectively a brand new bank with liability only from the point it started.
Do not expect to succeed in your complaint now. You may do but you have several issues
1 - your complaint reason is very weak.
2 - most PBA complaints are now timebarred
3 - even the FOS are only upholding around 1 in 10 complaints on PBAs.
4 - there is nothing wrong with having a PBA. It is considered a viable product. So, failure reasons are important.0 -
The amalgamation of Lloyds and TSB occurred prior to 2000.
Why has it taken you 19 years to realise this fact? 19 YEARS.
You have been covered by the insurances offered through this account for the last 19 years. Have you driven a car during this time? Did you purchase breakdown cover in addition to that provided by this account? Have you travelled abroad during this 19 years? Did you purchase travel insurance in addition to that provided by the bank account? The fact that you may not have claimed is irrelevant; you were covered. Did you ever write a cheque for the higher value which would have been allowed with the cheque guarantee card which would have initially come with this account? Did you ever use an ATM to withdraw the higher daily limit that this account may have allowed? And so on ….
Even if it is true that somebody misinformed you about the loan 19 years ago I can see no valid reason why anybody would entertain such a claim after so long a time. You have had 19 years to determine that the account was not suitable for you.0 -
