Help! Proof of how I obtained a large saving

  • So how did you save the money...where did you accumulate it?

did you have a separate savings account?

You just need to show that what you paid out isnt larger than your income.

For example if you put £100 per week aside into a separate account you need to show them that account.

If you just let it accumulate in one account you need to show them that evidence.

In honesty they are not trying to trick you, they just need to be satisfied that you obtained the money via legal means.

If you built those savings up over 12 months or longer then you need to provide the evidence of your statements for that time to confirm that was the case.

Hi all! Thank you so much for replying and helping me. Unfortunately as my parents don't live in this country I have no where to get any help/advise from.

I'm not in direct communication with the lender. The mortgage broker said 'they are also asking for more proof of how you obtained £ savings, I understand you have said that you work a lot and save hard but for money laundering reasons they need to cover themselves and asking if you can send over any statements etc to show how your savings has built up?' I already sent 3 months statement. Maybe I should send past 6 months statement?

Did you read my last post? Stop trying to second guess what they want. Get your broker to ask what they want. Do they want 36 statements, annual statement, quarterly statement etc.

If you provide 6 months statements, that gives them 6 months worth of statements to look at and find issue with and also it may not be enough for what they need. So you then risk supplying it and them coming back and asking for more... wasted days each time.

  • OP, you have answered your own question. You just need to find out how many statements they need.
