have you completely deleted the files or are they in recycle bin - and as for no firewall or Anti virus, you are taking a big gamble there is loads of Trojans & Malware/greyware out there i suggest you get system protected pronto0

No Anti-Virus or Firewall! Deleted everything! I'm out. :eek:0

Install and run antivirus and malware scans, and make sure you have a firewall running at all times.
Apart from critical security software, and regular backups, it's always important to have a data protection plan for such eventualities where you delete important data by mistake. A good file protection/recovery software will allow you to retrieve the deleted data quickly- even after emptying the recycle bin, rather than searching through backups, assuming the files have not been overwritten, ofcourse. Trying to install such software *after* deleting data may not be very useful since there is a chance that the installation will overwrite parts of your files.0 -

Holly !!!! some of the worst advice ever for the chances of recovering deleted files.
First stop useing the PC, continued use will write files to the hard disk.
when you delete a file it just marks the peice of disk as available. Downloading any files or writeing any files risks the chances of those sections of disk being used and over writen and the chance of recovering the files slim to none existant.
So installing antivirus or anti spy ware now will destroy your chances even installing data recovery software will write to sections of the disk and risk over writeing the files you want to recover.
You need to use another PC that has data recovery software installed and connect your hard drive to it and use the data recovery software to scan your hard drive for files that can be recovered, then recover the files to another drive the drive in the other pc is always good. then move them back to your drive and put it back in your pc.
I use ontrack easy recovery pro, I have recovered formatted drives, deleted partitions corrupt drives and deleted files with no problems, it can take a few hours, I usually run full drive recovery overnight.
If you are in North wales I can offer to help. I have a system install to do in Rhuddlan next week depending on when the hardware is delivered I hope to be over there early next week if you want help.0
