Royal mail parcels

John lewis has started using royal mail and guess what, after using JL successfully for umpteen years, my parcels are suddenly not being delivered. Marked as delivered by the local sorting office but it hasn`t been. I have had to complain about RM parcels previously, I think they now deliver larger parcels separately to letters.

Just getting it off my chest. In my opinion RM are far and away the worst parcel service ever. I spoke to JL customer service today and there was an intake of breath when I said RM. I think I am not the only one to have experienced non delivery.

For me RM are the better service for delivering parcels.

Like with alot of things some areas are better than others.

Started using them? When did they stop?

A lot of delivery services vary according to the town/city they are delivering to. Many (& I do mean very many) years ago when working in sales we used one carrier for everywhere including islands off the Scottish coast, but if something had to go to York we used a different one. Paying more, & lets face it it is always about the money, was cheaper than sorting out the issues.

I send about 2-3 parcels per week through Royal Mail (small parcels) and I haven't had a single problem that I can remember in the last 3 years.

I have had one issue as the recipient where the postman put it in our bin, but left a note saying it was left with a person instead meaning it was collected and sent to landfill!, but that is all.

This does not include parcelforce (then mention of which still fills me with dread), however I have reluctantly used them lately where I have had no other choice, and they seem to be a lot better now since the direct competition has increased.

There usual ploy is to stick a card through your letterbox saying you were out when they called - they don't even bother to knock first.
When you complain nobody at the company could give a damn.

Do you mean "1st Class Signed for"?
I don't think "Recorded Delivery" exists anymore as a service.

    From John Lewis website:
    Smaller items

Smaller items are usually delivered within 5 working days, Monday to Friday, 7.30am - 6pm. Some couriers may deliver slightly earlier or later.
Once your item has left our warehouse, we’ll send you an email with tracking information.
Couriers we use for standard deliveries include Royal Mail, Hermes, DHL and DPD.
although the OP doesn't specify parcel size.

Of the 4 listed above, Royal Mail is my courier of choice - both for receiving and posting items.

If I miss a delivery, I can pop to the local sorting office to pick it up instead of having to faff about rearranging delivery with the courier.
I know I won't be waiting in until 8 or 9pm for my parcel like I might be with Yodel.
I've posted a fair number of parcels with Royal Mail in the last year - not far off 200, all to different addresses - and none have gone missing.
And none of my orders have gone missing either.

It would be interesting to know what RM's response to all these undelivered parcels was...

I have to say that Royal Mail are easily the 2nd best delivery service I use (the best being DPD because of their 2hr deliver slot and that you can track the driver).

My normal postman is always so polite and friendly, always very cheery (to be fair I always give him a christmas card and a tip, haha). I've never had a parcel go missing or get damaged from the Royal Mail.
