Sick pay

Is it possible to claim some form of sick pay if you are already (recently become) unemployed? Or do you have to be employed to claim it? Other benefits already being claimed are child tax credit and child benefit. Not claiming job seekers. Thanks in advance.

Employment and Support Allowance - payability of which is based on national insurance contributions over the two full tax years preceding the benefit year in which the claim is made.
Universal Credit - this will end up with tax credits ceasing. You may not be better off than you are claiming Tax Credits if you claim this. It depends on circumstances.0 -
