Kitchen work

Options
Right got a quote for some kitchen work. The company hasn't provided a full breakdown of costs and quite reluctant to do so. Work included is new worktop mid range laminate 3 standard lengths, quite small kitchen. Remove tiles from around work top of kitchen and fit small splash back instead. Skim and paint wall instead of replacing removed tiles. Glass splashback behind hob and new sink and tap. Sink and tap is £300 as I saw that in the book but the rest they wouldn't provide a breakdown. For total to supply and fit in two days they quoted £2990. Does this seem right? There's an offer os we'd need to know by end of week leaving no time to get other quotes from elsewhere potentially if its good. Thanks in advance

    Er, no. It sounds outrageous.

If there's time pressure added on to it as well, does that not ring alarm bells for you? If these people are free immediately then that should ring a bell too!

Do not be pressurised, get other quotes.

    2 Words rip off!

rip the tiles off yourself at the weekend (save money there)
dont be pressured into the whole offer and time frame bs
dont go with this company look elsewhere
People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”

I fit kitchens and bathrooms for a living.

    They'll have about £1000 - £1200 for materials.

Two men for two days at a typical price of £250/day/man, gives you another £1000.

If there is a gas hob to be removed and recommissioned, that's going to cost £120.

Disposal costs as well gives you another £80.

So it isn't that far off the mark.
