National Gas chasing old bill

Hi, I was recently sent an invoice from our previous supplier National Gas, who we moved from to nPower in March. They are claiming that we still have an unpaid debt of £100; however, I was distinctly told over the phone by their customer service team in April that there was no debt left to pay, and we are only just receiving the invoice over 7 months after we left them. Is this fair?

If you submitted a meter reading when you left, they sent you a final bill and you paid it in full then it's unfair.

If not, then it's fair because switching to a new supplier doesn't mean that you don't need to pay the old supplier for what you've used.

I don't know the circumstances of OP but - if - the loosing supplier has agreed a final meter reading from the gaining supplier how can their final bill be wrong ?

They sent through a final bill after we had left them, and a customer service agent confirmed over the phone that we had paid the final amount, and there was nothing more to be paid – only for us to be sent another invoice 7 months later as they claim they calculated it incorrectly.
