Will this affect my credit rating?

Apologies if this isn’t the right place to post.
I started doing a Level 3 PT course which costs £1400 and i decided to pay monthly.
I’ve paid around £600 by now and the past 4 months i have heard nothing from my mentor (He helps you on the course and has to mark your work to progress in the course).
Obviously its a lot of money to be paying to getting nowhere close to finishing this. I have contacted the company about this but they seem disinterested so i cancelled the direct debit last month and i got a message saying my account is in arrears and could result in debt recovery action.
I’ve worked really hard in improving my credit score and i finally have it good!
I know credit scores don’t mean much but on my report there is no sign of this company and my payments to it. If they start debt recovery will this be on my credit report as a default?
I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place and any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

If they go a CCJ, it will then appear on your files.
Even though a CCJ can sometimes improve your score, you really don't want one. Get it cleared or come to some other way of settling it.0 -
Credit Scores don't mean anything, let alone much0

Who is the training provider ?
I'm just concerned you have signed up with a sham provider who is carp.
Does PT mean physiotherapy ?
Reinstate the DD asap, if you don't you will have black mark against you on your credit report.0 -
Cancelling a direct debit doesn't cancel the contract and you are still liable for the rest of the payments, so they can take debt recovery action. What do the terms and conditions you agreed to say about cancellation?
A better way to resolve this would be to make a formal complaint to the training provider, and if that gets you nowhere escalate to whoever they are accredited by. If they are indeed accredited by anyone - is PT personal trainer? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
