I am not sure if you are able to withdraw your application and get the £255 refunded. I guess you'd need to ask the court (if they say no, i'd imagine the same fee/hearing can be used for the now consented application).

In that case you should at least try and minimise the damage to your pocket.

And failing that ask the claimant for a contribution. If they say no, you're no worse off on that score.
