Chasing to get money back from dodgy company (their service is training)

In 2015 I signed up to do a course with a company. It was an online/distance learning course. I paid, in total approx. £1000

Over the next year or so, the company reduced its support to such an extent that it just wasn’t there (phones, email etc going unanswered). They had a forum and it was “full” of people saying the same thing.

I officially complained using their polices, nothing.

It got to the point in early 2017 that I took them to small claims court. At this point it also appeared that the awarding body has stopped accrediting them.

From my understating of the process, they didn’t turn up.

I instructed bailiffs to execute the “warrant” (I believe)….

Nothing…..

The company appears to have vanished.
Didnt know where to post their thread...sorry if incorrect place.

Only one director is still listed at Companies House, and there is a move to “strike off” (but I think that’s been there for a while).

I doubt that the details on Companies House are correct anymore (hence the bailiffs not doing anything) .

Is there anything else I can do at little financial cost to myself to try and reclaim the money I paid them?

Only if the company has assets, which seems unlikely if they're no longer trading.

To be honest, even if they were still trading, the chances of bailiffs being able to recover any money would be very slim.
As they are an online business, I wouldn't be surprised if the only assets in the company name would have been a computer or two and they would probably have been long gone by the time enforcement was attempted.

As they appear to have ceased to exist apart from on paper at companies house, I doubt if there is anything that you can realistically do to get your money back.

I don't think that there is anything that can be done either, but no harm is asking.

The company was called Focus Professional Ltd. Company number 06735023

    Focus professionals limited .
Filing record says the Registrar has had an objection to the striking off.
But they've nearly been struck off three or four times before.
Why not speak to companies house to find out more.
