SDXC Card help

My son was using an old (real old) college Handycam to take some film for a college project.
He filmed direct to an SD card for ease of transfer to the PC (+ he didn't have the connector cable)
When trying to upload to the pc the film clips just show up as JPEG.
I managed to track down an online manual for the camera and it says film copied to or taken directly to an SDXC card (which is the type of card he used) will only transfer to an ExFat format.
So I'm now lost
Any idea what ExFat is - or how I can rescue the film.

Fixed ? How ? Exfat is a File Allocation Table, JPEG is a "file extension" that describes the content of the file(in theory). Explain where / how you cleared up your misunderstanding🍺 😎 Still grumpy, and No, Cloudflare I am NOT a robot 🤖BUT my responses are now out of my control they are posted via ChatGPT or the latest AI0
