Mortgage on a UK visa

Hello,
My husband is American and is currently here in the UK on a spouse visa. His visa came through in January this year (it is a spouse visa which is valid for 2.5years before it will be required to be extended) My husband has been working as a contractor since May so therefore is technically self-employed.
I own my own property. It is a small 1 bed apartment. I work full time and had no troubles getting a mortgage the first time around. We would like to have children soon and so we would like to upsize. Because we live in the south-east it is very expensive and to be honest, the only way we are going to be able to be able to move anywhere bigger is if we can put our salaries together. Does anyone know of any brokers or lenders that may lend to us?

Would need to know more details but I think this is probably placeable on the high street.
Us brokers are not allowed to name lenders on here or ask for your business so I can only encourage you to seek out a broker and get the relevant advice.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Are you also in the UK on a visa? A Tier 2 spouse visa would usually be issued to the spouse of someone on a Tier 2 work visa. If so, many lenders will have requirements around this before they will consider lending to either of you.0

Are you a UK/EU/EEA citizen?
Is the visa issued in January his first, or has he lived here longer?
If yes, how long?
What will the LTV be, above or below 75%?I am a mortgage broker. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Hi all,
Thanks for your replies. In answer to your questions:
- I am a UK citizen and have lived here most of my life
- My husband’s visa is his first visa - he has only lived in the UK since January (my apologises - it is not a tier 2 visa but a spouse visa - I have edited)
- The LTV will be below 75% At present I have around 85,000 equity in my property which I paid 200,000 for last year.0 -
Wrong spouse Visa is for ILR/British Citizen. If main applicant is Tier 2 General then partner will get Tier 2 Dependent Visa.Tallulah_Chicken wrote: »Are you also in the UK on a visa? I don't know i am allowed to name some bank but i can give you guess. For contractors a high street bank starting with H is the suitable one.Louisebelle wrote: »Hi all,

Thanks. I tried L&C brokers but they told me it will be another year until we can apply because my husband does not have 12mths of continuous employment in the UK yet.0

... of course, you could simply accept that and shelve your plans, or you could find a broker not looking for an easy life who has a bit of experience.
I wonder what the other regulars on here, think?I am a mortgage broker. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
