Iphone quandary

I'm still using my 5S (and my 4 is still being used for podcasts!). Battery could do with being replaced but apart from that it's fine.0

What's your battery capacity out of interest? Apple have a feature where performance management kicks in once it's been through enough charge cycles and can no longer hold full capacity.
You can disable it but if your phone experiences an 'unexpected shutdown' it turns back on by default. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -

The slowdown you experience would be mostly because newer versions of the app you use are released with newer devices in mind. My son still uses his iPhone 6 and my wife was perfectly happy with her 6s until she drowned it 3 months ago.
If you are still happy with the performance - keep using the 6s. The fact that next years's iOS 14 will likely drop 6s from the supported devices is no real concern, the lack of further security updates is not that big of a deal. For comparison the average Android mobile gets about 2 years of updates, yet millions of people are using them. If it's a new feature in iOS14 that you will want, best leave the purchase for next September, when the release of the next gen will drop the price of the older models.
If you want a new iPhone regardless and don't want to for out too much cash for 11, insetad of 7 I would recommend to wait for spring 2020 when the new iPhone SE is rumoured to launch with the same A13 CPU as 11, but in the older cheaper shell of iPhone 6/7/8 with TouchID, instead of FaceID. The rumoured price is $400, which should translate to about £400-450
Husband is still using my old 4S, but its now struggling with some of the apps he likes.
I love my iPhone SE (bought new June 2016) as I have very small hands. I'll hang onto it as long as its safe, as I do most of my banking via apps on it.
Any prediction on Apple bringing out another small phone? I'd struggle with some of the monsters out there:o0 -
Yes, there are heavy rumours theres another smaller SE model coming out in the Spring. See link below.
This guy has a very good record of being right. Not 100% but very good.0 -
Thanks AJ
That would be perfect.0 -

The new SE is rumoured to use the iphone 6/7/8 shell/size as opposed to the old iphone 5 shell/size used by the first SE. It's in the article you linked tooOf course, "!iPhone SE 2!" might not be the final name of the device, with iPhone 8s and iPhone 9 speculated as other possibilities. With a larger 4.7-inch display, the device won't be as portable as the original iPhone SE, which will surely disappoint fans of that model.
I highly doubt apple will bother with a smaller screen device for a very limited market. The SE and SE2 (or whatever) is just reusing old parts and production lines. The original SE was a hodgepodge of parts from at least 3 different models. the new SE will be likewise. They are not new products with money spend on development etc.
What the new SE will offer is flagship class compute with the A13 chip stuffed in old body of iPhone 8 at a competitive price0 -
Tbh, I think that once Steve jobs died , so did apples ideas.
Constant software updates that drain the battery life . Having said all that ,
If it's true about the possible release of a new s e model , then that may be what I may do and replace the s e phone I already have . I don't like the term Apple fan boy , despite owning lots of apple products . It's the blatant ripping off of customers that annoys . In truth I only use the iPhone for bus times / train times/ weather and Apple Music ( my own ) . I may even go android .. or Nokia0 -
I'm on a 5 refurb and just getting to the point where some apps can no longer be used because the operating system can't be updated any further. Which is annoying but having had a Samsung for work I do still prefer the iPhone. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I've been looking at this very question. I think it depends if you want to take super duper pictures, which is what the 11 seems to be sold on. I've just bought a refurbished 8 64gb as that is the model I've read is the best and better than the 7.0
