Loath to give up Tivo box but paying Virgin £63 for phone package, broadband and TV

I have basic TV, 100mb broadband and anytime calls on the landline but I can't see any mention on this site of whether other providers TV set top box is as good as Virgin's Tivo box. It has a high capacity to record lots of TV series very easily. It even remembers from year to year that I want to record the Tour de France cycling. I have plenty of TV stored still to watch.

Does anyone know if I get a cheaper package (TV/BB/Phone) will the TV black box be as good?

The Tivo box is actually really poor compared to a V6 or a even a Sky HD+ or Sky Q box.

Of course changing the box to anything else will lose all of your recordings.
