Replacement Nissan key. How much

Somehow and somewhere I have lost or miss placed the spare key to our car which is a 2018 Nissan, luckily We have the key with the code on.
So far I have only contacted the local dealer but they said it was This and that then something else and ended up at £245. This seems a crazy price but less than our excess, so can’t claim through the insurance.

Anyone able to come up with a money saving idea :money::money:

Check your insurance documents carefully, you may find your policy has key cover where an insurer will cover the cost of replacement keys and locks without an excess or impact on claims history.

They sometimes do this because they want to incentivise people to change locks etc as it's cheaper to pay for a new key than a new car!

Try a local car key locksmith/specialist. I had a Citroen one done for about £140, dealer price was £200 +

Can't help with the price but I can help with the "This and then something else".
They charge for the blade, the remote, the time to pair the remote and immobiliser to the car and possibly for cutting the blade, too. Each component price sounds OK then they hit you with the total.
  • Vauxhall did me a remote flip key for £120, there are some specialist independent companies that supply keys. Try those. Some even have mobile technicians who will come to your house.

if not using a dealer make sure they can remove the lost key from the car's computer otherwise someone can still use it
