'Backdate' the Electoral Role?

Hi,
I have been living at my present address since 2004 but have never registered to be on the Electoral Role.
At my previous address I never registered either, but did apply for my Experian credit report whilst living there, and so it shows this address on my Experian file I assume.
My question is, when I go to register onto the Electoral Role, can I have it 'backdated' so that my credit history file shows that I have indeed been living at my current address for 3 years, or is that not possible?
I haven't taken out any credit at either of these addresses.
Many thanks!

You really need to ask your local Council's Electoral Roll Officers, but i think it is unlikely as the purpose of the roll is for voting and as the opportunity has now passed to vote they probably would not see the point. In saying that if you can prove you have lived at your address then there is no reason why a Credit Reference Agency wont put on a note of correction saying "we have had sight of proof in the form of x,y, or z, that swerve has been residing at this address since". Mind you getting a CRA to take responsibility for saying we beleive you have lived at your address might also cause a problem, they might not want to take on that level of liability. Many people live in this country cannot vote and hence register but would benefit from this type of help. James0

of course not being registered on the electoral roll is an offence so I wouldn't argue too hard.0

good point, if you have failed to put your name on it and you are not disqualified for some reason you are subject to criminal proceedings. So maybe best not to mention unless you have a very good reason. James0
