Been living with my mom for 5 years, she has right to buy, I can buy the house outright....

    Q - Can I make a joint application?

    A - Yes, you can but only certain people are allowed to join an application. If you are eligible, you may be able to buy with:

    – someone who is on the tenancy agreement with you;
    – your spouse or civil partner;
    – up to three family members, who have been living in your home for the 12 months immediately before you make the application. They don’t have to be on the tenancy agreement but it must be their main home.

    Joint application means joint ownership and the OP doesn't want to share ownership with the person who actually has the RTB.

    That's not really true though is it? You won't make 100% of the contribution towards the purchase as your mother's discount also contributes towards the purchase.

    So you moved out, moved back in and stayed for 5 years as you couldn't be bothered to move out and be independent and now want to screw your Mum over, sorry for your Mum.

    Not necessarily, All depends when the mother 1st moved in and what's stated on a written tenancy agreement.

    Mother will have Secure council tenancy, Protected tenancy's are with private landlords and the tenants moved in before January 1989.
