How long to fit a kitchen?

A couple of days? at least a week?

A medium-sized kitchen, complex units, but they should be delivered fully constructed. Plumbing and second fix electrics in place for inset sink, hob, double fitted oven, integral f/f and dishwasher (all new). 4 tall units, 2 wall units, 6 base units incl a corner. Fix laminate worktop with cutouts for sink and hob - long run plus small return.

Not worried about tiling or splash backs at first, unless they affect the fit.

Comments

  • With rigid cabinetry and laminate worktops, 3-4 days seems reasonable.
  • Is this a diy job or are you getting tradesmen in?

Is it a straight replacement of what is there or is the layout changing?

Are the units freestanding or attached to the walls?

Are the walls straight and are the corners of the room 90 degrees?

But second fix electrics aren't in place as the hob and oven would need wiring.

The one corner is square. Walls straight. Tradesman to fit. All existing units will be removed - it's not replacing like for like - full re-emodel. Sink staying in same place. Wiring for electrics will be in place, sockets fitted.

Assuming no nasty surprises when the old kitchen is removed, a week should see it done if there is no tiling, decoration or flooring involved.

we have recently had a large kitchen fitted with the ceiling being boarded and spotlights inserted with one studded wall being removed and it took eight days, the fitter was just showing us how every thing worked and all of a sudden water came through the ceiling so we ran upstairs to find a radiator had split along the bottom seam and we had to have the ceiling re plastered

 Ceiling and wall coming down on Wednesday. Boarding and plastering next week, hopefully. New bathroom and rad fitting the following week...right over kitchen. If it leaks it's down to the builder! It looks like mid-Dec for kitchen fitting so hopefully time for glitches to be dealt with - touch wood.
