Allegations from newbies

I have noticed a recent trend for new moneysavers to complain and moan as well as criticize and slag off Members, Admins and moderators. There has been more than a few threads where newbies have broken board rules and been told but then go off in a rant about how rude the mod was (presumably because they told them they should read the rules) And how they wont post again and how the mods are so mean.

I can understand frustrations if you post a first deal and people accuse you of being associated with the site but if they post a site and a regular moneysaver checks it out and it doesn't seem 100% above board then surely its better for other not so techie people who have to go on the original posters word to know about it.

There have been a few threads recently where people have been told things about websites which were obviously just someone using a individual account for business when they shouldn't and they have accused posters of harassment and negativity when you are just trying to give people a warning that something might be wrong.

Maybe its just me but to see people who have been on the board for less than a month or people who have been members for years but only have 20-30 posts come out and slag off admins and mods for pointing out mistakes and forum rule breaking it just really gets on my nerves. Maybe if they took the criticism on board and learn from it or even take 10 Min's to read the rules then they could help the board instead of trying to make it sound like an inhospitable place.

As I said it only seems to be recently this has happened. I have been a member for over 2 years now and never seen this problem before. I have seen arguments over differences of opinion but never out and out slagging of members, admins and mods and constany "I will never post on this board again" statements.

Sorry for this but its just been playing on my mind for a few weeks now and just wanted to see what others thought.

I had a job last year working for a business based entirely online.
A worldwide business, privately funded. And new.
And there were forums... in 6 languages.
The hassle that lot put us through!!! "they should do this ..." "they should do that ..." Totally didn't get the fact that THEY could shove off :)

People "don't get" the effort people go to to build an online presence. And they "don't get" that there are ways, stated by the company, of doing things... and it's assumed that it's a free for all.

    Well, life isn't like that.

And I figure if people don't like the way something's run, then they're at liberty to shove off and create their own community instead of whining about the one they are choosing to use for free.

Site owners don't owe them a free lunch. A website presence is a a personal thing and it grieves website owners when whiney people waste so much effort/time expecting too much from the site/owner/volunteers. In fact, their complaints/unnecessary neediness and general rudeness often prevent any site from moving forward as they suck the time/life and energy from those involved.

    [/rant over]

    :)

There are more and more people registering on this forum, at a faster rate than a couple of years ago, so we are seeing a higher incidence of all sort of posters - the rude ones, the moaning ones, trolls, angry peeps and so on. The bigger the forum gets, the more we will see of these irritations, I'm afraid...
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.
  • people should think before they post...also alot of newbies are younger people from 14 upwards so they don't have the manner's of the older generation...whatever...that sort of thing...abit of common sense never did anyone any harm...and manner's people please where are your manner's...these thing's are not taught to the younger generation anymore...deep breath's is what is needed nowadays...and cheer up and don't let the sod's get you down...let it raise above you...:D

Pls be nice to all MSer's
There's no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps.
Tomorrow never come's as today is yesterday and tomorrow is today:confused:

    MERRY CHRISTMAS FELLOW MSer's:xmastree:
  • You forgot to mention the hundreds, nay thousands of new users who sign up and who don't moan, whine, are angry, rude or are trolls

There are 60 odd boards plus sub-boards on MSE with many thousands of posts made on a daily basis and more people helped on a wide variety of subjects than probably any other UK website.

My glass is half full not half empty, try and focus on the many, many good things to be found on MSE and ignore the very minor irritations :D
