Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Freezing here and the fire went out overnight!
There is a sunken narrowboat in the marina it's going to be a struggle to refloat it.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all,
Brrr, much scraping of windscreens here this morning & DH couldn't open the side door on the van. I was out early with the hound as DGS was being dropped off at 7.30 so he's busy watching Halloween videos on the ipad and we have a pumpkin to do later. DGDs school is back today.
I have been absolutely streaming with a cold all weekend so not done much. DH was a star and did most of the tea last night. My contribution was putting the beef in the sc in the morning.Plenty left for tonight, which is good as it's always busy when DGS is here
Tru and Scarlet - I've been sorting my card stuff too, soon gets messy! I've put some things in a charity bag, stamps and things I don't think I'll use again.
Gers hope the dry rot hasn't spread

TA, don't get me started on tradespeople who don't turn up or botch a job. Poor Chris and Crystal have been searching for someone to replace a shower tray for them for nearly two years after a plumber they did get in dropped a valve and broke it. His insurance will pay but they just can't find anyone who wants the job. They are also having problems finding a reliable roofer, the last one they got in said he had fixed the problem but hadn't. He was highly rated on Trustpilot but now Chris has found awful reviews of him on Yell.com. He's trying to get the money back.
Talking of Chris and Crystal they are still in Yorkshire so Steve has gone across to wait for a valuer for them. It's a bit annoying because Laura would like me to go down and hang out as she's feeling very fed up. I might walk Ziggy and then go down by train.0 -
Cold frosty start to bank holiday here......have DS1,,DS2 and partner extra, the latter 2 are back to London later so I have started a stew which should be ready around 2, like to feed them before they leave. Out for coffee in a bit, have only eaten a banana this morning.......will be naughty and have something sweet with the coffee.
I hope that Dumpling is ok.
Gers....my hip is acting up also......I have gone back to using a stick which helps. I don't see my consultant again until early December and he is not in favour of hip replacement until steroids have been tried (why????).
Enjoy your day everybody

I suspect that he's trying to avoid surgery. It's a pretty invasive, I don't care! I'm too young to hobble on for years and it's got very bad very quickly. I'm using a stick outside and in the mornings inside. My aim is to get back to long walks after Christmas, short walks in five weeks.
Sorry you're in pain Marie.
Right, just waiting for HuH to finish before tackling the dry rot issue with DM!0 -
Morning all. Chilly here today 15 degrees in the house when OH got up at 9am.. Nothing much planned today. I will need to wash DS's work clothes as he is on days off until Wednesday.
TA that' s a good suggestion about contacting Care and Repair. Gers no eggs?? We are having boiled eggs and soldiers for brunch.
Well that"s all for now folks as brunch is ready. Hugs and spoons all round.

Afternoon all.. Been quite busy shopping with sister, we've had our big chats about stuff, we also won the WI quiz, no idea how that happened beyond the obvious more points than anyone else...it was me, OH, sister and a friend. We've not done better than about tenth before [ although last time with my father, sister and OH we were third I think]. We must keep the trophy now until March when the next one is
Made Sunday dinner yesterday and obviously enough for the same again tonight. We've just come back from Ikea...bit of a spendy day there, but all things that are necessary or to replace broken versions...a big glass here, a little glass there, a pillow, a spice shelf...
Put the fire on last night too, first one this autumn, it was so cold last night though and there was a really hard frost. Winter is definitely knocking hard on the door.
Might do a little bit of weeding while I'm waiting for my siter to come back, I dropped her off at the hotel with her items, which she has to shoehorn into her boot. She's done quite a bit of shopping here...
Hope everyone is doing as OK as possible, good luck Gers, dumpling, hope you're doing better, hey OL, SO, you OK too? And hugs and stuff for free to thoems that wants...Merely Monday....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Well, the deed is done! I told DM all about the problem late this morning, she took it all very well. There were lots of questions and lots of me writing on her iPad (she's very deaf) and now she's starting to fret. I'm glad I waited until now.
I've been out briefly. Took SAEs to the GP surgery, posted a letter, took photos of the PO bear and took another load of recycling to the tip. On the way back I picked up some biscuits (for the contractors) and milk along with a couple of books and, of course, eggs! Now I've got a washing load chugging away.
DM wants to chop up some fennel so I've left everything out for her.
Well done -taff and family on the trophy!0
