Amex spending & the platinum everyday card

Handy to know. Thanks.
Section 75 only applies when there is a direct relationship with the credit provider and the merchant. If PayPal sits in between the relationship is indirect and section 75 doesn't apply.More detail here: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/PayPal-Section75/
In situations where PayPal is the only accepted method of payment (sometimes the case with eBay goods) and you want section 75 protection (e.g. for a high value item) you can still benefit from section 75 if you use PayPal credit (PayPal's own line of credit) instead of regular PayPal. But you would not be able to benefit from Amex cashback if you did this.

Amazon accepts AmEx, so you won't need to use PayPal there.JustAnotherSaver wrote: »eBay gets used frequently as does Amazon so i guess we could link via PayPal as has been mentioned.0 -
For anyone that have used this credit card in the past. How long after you've reached the £100 threshold, do you get the cashback? Is it at end of 3 month into period or earlier?
I've had the card a month, and about to reach it so was curious.0 -

Cashback is paid annually which is one of the disadvantages of the card. You have to wait a year to get any cashback paid.0 -
One year after you got the amex. It's my everyday credit card for supermarkets, amazon orders, restaurants, large retailers and petrol.0

Oh damn, that's a long wait. I didn't realise or i may have chosen something else. Anyway thanks0

All that glitters is not gold.
Seriously though, this only emphasises the need to think carefully before choosing a particular rewards or cashback card that it is the right one for you.0 -
Personally i'm not that bothered when it gets paid so long as it gets paid.
Same with my wages. Working with people who get all upset over monthly pay and they'd rather weekly pay and they can't believe that i'm never on the ball for the exact date we get paid (like is it this Friday? I'd totally not realised). For me i don't care whether i'm paid weekly, monthly or yearly so long as i get paid my wage.0 -
Strange, most people I know love getting paid monthly. Getting paid weekly is a budgeting nightmare.0

Depends on the type of people you know.pecuniam_hominem wrote: »Strange, most people I know love getting paid monthly. Getting paid weekly is a budgeting nightmare.
I work with some young lads who are desperate to stuff their wage up their nose, so when they get paid monthly that's a looooooooong way until their next hit/payday.
I've worked with people who are desperate to pee their wage in to a drain on their way home from getting their wage. Now they've got 4 weeks before they can do it again ... 4 weeks, it's the end of the world, how can i possibly wait that long.
I work with people who get by, payslip to payslip and then i work with people (i'm in this category) who it doesn't matter if they even have some time off sick because they budget accordingly over the weeks/months/years so that they're in a position where they have money in reserve.0
