Car related accessories

I'm getting my first ever car in about three weeks and I'm thinking about accessories. I definitely want seatbelt covers as I'm quite short and find seatbelts dig into my neck but I'm wondering about other bits. I'd love some opinions on what car related accessories you find are must haves and which are a waste of money. I'm asking so I can get a general idea from experienced drivers in order to make my list. Thank you

Tyre pressure gauge and pack of tissues for your regular check of tyre condition and fluid levels. Ice scraper or de icer for winter. Microwavable de humidifier packs are good for keeping the inside of the windscreen less foggy in the winter.

Also worth chucking a cheap hi vis vest in the boot in case you ever breakdown.

A decent Ice scraper will look expensive compared to the free/99p ones, but will work better, save your paintwork and window rubbers, and keep you hands from getting wet and cold.

Keep it in the car. It would be silly to be killed on the way to the boot.

If you think they dig into your neck in normal use, imagine what they'd do in a collision...

Perhaps it'd be better to buy a car where you can adjust the seat and belt heights to a suitable position...?

(You aren't one of those drivers who sits RIGHT forward, leaning forward, nose almost touching the steering wheel, are you?)

A 12v tyre pump to go with that gauge, a couple of microfibre cloths to wipe condensation from the windows and a decent ice scraper. I have one of those posh ones with a built in snow brush- but the trick is to be holding it in your hand when you walk up to a snow covered car, not to fill the car with snow whilst getting it out.



I keep a pair of those elastic/rubber studded overshoes that go over the soles of my winklepickers/brogues to walk from the car into work across the well designed carpark. (Who'd have thought that a large flat area of smooth tarmac would get icy in Winter eh?)

Have decent sunglasses, glare can be an issue when the sun is strong and low in the sky.
