    Day 13 - Answer = ANTRIM

This COUNTY in Northern Ireland is famous for its glens and also the Giant’s Causeway, where some of our families go on day trips. This National Trust landmark comprises tens of thousands of interlocking rocks formed by a volcanic eruption 60 million years ago. Well that’s one theory. Legend has it that they were actually built by a giant who needed a way to get to Scotland to fight another giant.

This resort TOWN sits on Scotland’s scenic west coast in a bay that is a perfect horseshoe shape. It’s known as the ‘Gateway to the Isles’, as tourists heading to the Inner and Outer Hebrides often stop off here to admire the scenery. Thanks to Hostelling Scotland and tickets donated by Citylink and ScotRail, groups of families we help also come here to visit local museums and see fascinating old buildings such as the ruins of Dunollie Castle.

“Why isn’t the bay shaped like one of my reindeer shoes?” asks Ruby.

    Answer: Oban

This RIVER which flows through Bristol is also the name of the gorge crossed by the city’s Clifton Suspension Bridge. Did you know that the saying ‘ship shape and Bristol fashion’ comes from ships navigating this river at low tide?
Families often enjoy walks along its banks and spend time in the peaceful parkland. Time to stop for a rest, eh, Ruby?

This TOWN in North Yorkshire lays claim to being the world’s first seaside resort, and still attracts thousands of tourists every year. Visitors include some of our families, who get to travel with TransPennine Express to see the famous castle beside the sea and fascinating Sea Life Sanctuary.
You might also know this town for its legendary fair, immortalised in a classic folk song. Sing along with Ruby: “Are you going to…?”

This CITY in north-east Scotland stands where the Dee and Don rivers meet the North Sea, and is nicknamed the ’Granite City’ for its many grey-stone buildings. It’s also where some of our families have fun learning at the fascinating Science Centre, and get to stay in a hotel (often for the first time) thanks to our friends at the DoubleTree by Hilton.
Ruby is looking forward to meeting some of our families at the Go Ape adventure course nearby… Watch out for that zip wire, Ruby!

The _______ is a LANDMARK formed of three stacks of chalk that rise about 30m out of the sea near the Isle of Wight. It’s a great spectacle for our fundraisers as they walk, jog or run for the annual Isle of Wight Challenge.
Visitors to this landmark can also take a chairlift down from the cliffs and hop on a boat to see it and its famous lighthouse up close. Unless you’re a reindeer, in which case you can just fly past, eh, Ruby?

    Answer - The Needles

    N is correct.
