Not showing as Under Offer or SSTC

Hi all,
I had an offer accepted on a property at the end of August, and followed it up in writing with the condition that the property is no longer marketed/no more viewings etc. A couple of days later I asked the EA when it would show as SSTC on Rightmove/their website, and they muttered something about solicitors which I didn’t quite make out but didn’t really give much thought to as I had only instructed my solicitor that day.
It’s still not showing as under offer or SSTC, although I’ve driven past the house which has a SOLD sign outside now, and I’ve had a friend call to enquire and was told the house was gone and that she couldn’t view.
So I’m not too worried about it, just find it odd. Seems like a lot more work for them fielding calls. Do you think there’s any reason for this other than oversight? Or do you think they leave houses appearing for sale to increase calls so they can take people’s details and market other properties?
(The EA are a bit hopeless though, I rented a house through them in the past and my heart sank when I realised they were the EA of the house I wanted to buy!)
Thanks

I wouldn't overly worry about it.0

Yeah I’m not too worried, just seemed a bit odd and was curious
Just realised it was end of September I offered, not August. Feels like it’s been way longer already!0 -
this happened to my mum when she was buying a BTL last year, I actually tried to phone up to see if i could arrange a viewing and was told it was under offer and not available.
I told my mum to enquire as to why it wasn't marked as Sold STC and she was told it's because it's being sold as a reposession, and they can't take it off untill it's sold, but apparently they wont take any higher offers, apparently...
i've also phoned myself to try and get a viewing on another house once, only to be told "it's sold but we can't take it off the market yet..."
i suspect something dogdy to be honest, can't see why they do it?0 -
The property won’t be marked SSTC until the EA forwards the memorandum of sale to your solicitor. If you will the end, you must will the means.0

The listing should now state 'Under Offer' but some EA's are just useless. If you're worried that they are still taking viewings, ring up and see if you can get one.0

The memorandum of sale was received by my solicitor three weeks ago now. They have the draft contracts and searches have started so I can’t think of any formalities to do with solicitors that would mean they’re still waiting for something before marking it as sold.
I’ll be ringing the EA on Monday about something else so will drop an enquiry in to that conversation and see what they say.0 -

You’re just about to make the most expensive purchase of your life. Can I highly recommend you question anything you’re not sure about? Estate agents are not known for their open and honest behaviour.Signature on holiday for two weeks0 -
Never ascribe to malice that which can be adequately explained by incompetence.0
