Tenant receipt for rent

I have recently taken over from an agent as a landlord for 1 property, (same tenant last 3 years and no problems). I have issued a "receipt" for the first months rent (directly to me), but tenant has said they don't want / need a receipt. They pay via bank transfer so there are records available of payment. Not sure whether there is a need to keep issuing a receipt if the tenant doesn't want / need one?
Can't find anything specific that says I have to issue one (unless tenant is paying cash), so just looking for advice as to whether to continue or just maintain a spreadsheet for my own reference?
Many thanks

Unless tenancy agreement says receipt required then there is no need.
Proof for both tenant and landlord from bank statement.
Unless tenancy states rent payable weekly in which case a rent book must be provided (but, weirdly, doesn't have to be used).0 -
What do you mean by that?I have recently taken over from an agent as a landlord for 1 property
Either you have always been the landlord and have taken over management from an agency that you recently employed, or you have just bought a new property and taken over LL duties from the previous owner (the agency).0
