2nd generation smart meters with economy 7
My mother has economy 7 and night storage heaters. She had an economy 7 smart meter last year, unfortunately it broke within 6 months and her supplier Bulb had no replacement smart meters, so she had an old style meter fitted which was not economy 7.
She has phoned Bulb regularly to see when the economy 7 smart meters will be available but they cant tell her. This is becoming a problem because she needs her night storage heaters for the winter and will have to charge on full price electricity. Bulb have said that they will compensate her, but it would be much easier to have an economy 7 meter.
My question is has anybody had a 2nd generation smart meter installed with economy 7 ? Does anyone know when the 2nd generation smart meters with economy 7 will be available ?
Thanks

I would get her to write a formal letter to them to explain
* the problem is caused by the failure of their product - their economy 7 smart meter
* they have failed to replace it with either a new economy 7 smart meter or a standard economy 7 meter
* therefore any increase in her bills will be a direct consequence of their product's failure
* she will therefore be claiming from them the difference in what her bills this winter are, and what they would have been.
Ask them to either
1) fit an economy 7 meter without delay ie within 7 days,or
2)confirm they will reimburse her for the extra usage costs she incurs0 -
Mrk the letter complaint and send it by recorded delivery as well so you've got a record.
I find that a recorded delivery letter often has much more effect than whinging at someone on the phone or even sending an e-mail.
Someone has to physically handle and look at it rather than it disappearing into the electronic black hole.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

As above but send an email marked complaint print that off and send it via recorded delivery. The complaint window will start immediately as the Email will arrive straight way, and then taking things to the ombudsmen will be quicker if there is an electronic chain of correspondence.0 -
