Want to switch from prepayment to credit - EDF
I currently have a PAYG smart meter, but would like to switch to another company and use a direct debit payment. Most companies won't allow switching from PAYG to Credit directly.
When I called EDF this morning, they told me "we're not currently enabling credit mode and we'll put you on the waiting list". She then promptly transferred me to a "cheaper" tarriff.
Were they lying?

If EDF have a backlog there isn't a lot you can do other than keep asking
EDF are one of the better companies when it comes to a PAYGO to Credit meter swap, others can be difficult and ask for an upfront cash deposit toward future bills, with BG being particularly picky about Credit Ratings0 -

The OP isn't asking for a meter swap, they just need an electronic flow sent to the meter to switch it from PPM to Credit.
If I were you I'd ring back again, just to make sure the person you spoke to actually knew what they were talking about.
Does that cheaper tariff you've been switched to have a cancellation fee?
Quickest way to get anything done at an energy supplier is to ask the person you are speaking to raise a complaint, that will bump your case up the backlog cue.0
