No, definitely not jealous. We wanted it doing before we even spoke to new neighbours0

If you didn't negotiate before completing the purchase then there is absolutely no reason why they should provide you with free additions now. There's no incentive for the builder to provide anything other than what the contract stipulates.0 -
Do the developers still have any building contractors working on houses in the area?If so and you still want a retaining wall then it might be worth speaking to them and asking how much it would cost to put the wall in for you.
If they already have people, tools and materials on site then it might work out cheaper and quicker for them to do it rather than having to get someone else in to do the work at a later date.0 -
OP, I wouldn't bother if I were you.
I've only had one new build and I paid extra for a turfed rear lawn........ which was awful. Basically, it seems the garden had been used as landfill which explained why the grass struggled to grow successfully, so I ended up just paving & gravelling it in the end.0 -

Our house was two years old when we bought it and when we came to re-landscape the garden a couple of years later the contractors found that underneath the turf there was everything from rubble to metre wide electrical cabling reels. Years later we still find little hidden treasures - like sealant tubes and boxes for the bathroom fixtures chucked in behind the bath panel :rotfl:0
