O/S Daily Friday 25 October 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH and DS1 now getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.

Dark, wet underfoot and cool - rain forecast.

Dinner last night was pork loins, mash, veg and gravy. Tonight dinner will be a quick throw in the oven meal.

Yesterday I was reasonably productive, I have jobs I want to get done today too. Took the filers out of the DW - but still can't get it to work, tried to ring the manufacturer but couldn't get through continually held in a queue. The plumbing that takes the waste water away needs looking at - this is what we think is causing the problem, so will be trying to find a plumber.

I got the washing back up to date, but as the weather was so damp/wet I had to use the TD - just towels to do today.

I'll be heading to the SM this morning, then home to put shopping away then I'll go and look at new DW's just in case that's what's needed.

Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Much colder this morning with a stiff breeze, I would put washing out if I was home to keep an eye on it.

Thank goodness it's Friday, it's been a long week, two training sessions this week, one was ok the other a bit of a waste of time. Busy day ahead with a trip out for some of the pupils and a big assembly this afternoon.

So sorry to hear you lost your beloved Bruisemare Mehefin.
    Hope you're recovering well dumpling.

My sleepover with baby Sophie was good, DD only had to get up with her once in the night and she was still asleep when I left for work. The Health Visitor had been for a 6 week check on Wednesday, Sophie is fine but DD seems to be struggling a little with the baby blues, she seems to have lost a bit of her sparkle.

Hope you all have a happy Friday, take care. XX
  • Good morning, it's frosty here, brrr. Still dry, though heavy rain is forecast.

Thanks NMLC for starting, hope you get the DW sorted, in a way it's better if it's a plumbing problem

Camelot, is Sophie 6 weeks already ! Sorry to hear your DD is struggling. Hope she soon feels a bit better. Young babies are hard work.

Not much happening here today, just the usual jobs I think, and 2 friends coming tonight.
I might go to the library, I like a library visit, always have done. It's just a few minutes walk away.

Hope everyone has a good day, thinking of Dumpling and others who are ill and/or struggling with life.

    take care folks
  • Good morning and happy Friday to all!!

Got home yesterday to catch the football which finished just in time for football training. My knee held up well, it's just my fitness that needs working on. Got home and pretty much went to bed.
Spends: £2 - office milk and a snack
    NSD 8/18

No gym this morning but I may go after work, depending on what time I get away at. I've agreed to chill with some of the boys tonight so not making any other plans. Still got some LO paella for dinner. I don't have plans this weekend, which I'm fine with, especially as the last few weekends have been busy. Looking forward to it tbh.

Taff - How did you bouncer duties go? Your post yesterday made me laugh.
Poppy - Good to see you back. Keep on fighting.

    Good morning all.

Yesterday I cleared out the remainder of DM's freezer and took it all to the tip. I've also made a list of food from W iltshire which I'll phone through later this morning. I also went along to the local GP to register as a temporary patient for the next three months.

This afternoon a dentist is coming here to see DM who is keen to have an hygienist visit. This first one is to assess her before any work is done.

My thoughts are with all those who are struggling. Happy Friday to everyone.
  • Good morning, thank you for starting the thread nmlc.

Heavy rain predicted here so the house will be festooned with damp washing on airers. I need to get it done as it builds up so fast.

Other than dealing with washing and the usual Friday Tidy, nothing much happening here.

Thinking of Dumpling and all of us who could do with some positive thoughts today.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Grey and damp here I have a wash on the go but will have to use the td today.

The Dr's visit was useless yesterday my Dr was on holiday so I saw someone else she had a look at my foot and told me to rest it as much as possible, gave me a leaflet told me to buy an insole and some exercises to do, I explained to her that I have read so much about it and have bought every gadget and about six pairs of shoes and do exercise every day and evening, I then burst into tears and told her that I couldn't bear the pain and needed help, she looked slightly panicky and wrote me a scrip for strong painkillers!! it was a complete waste of time and I told her that when I see my Dr on the 11th Nov that I want a steroid jab in my foot, she told me she couldn't arrange that and to speak to reception, I was fuming by this point and when I went out I spoke to the lady on reception and she made a note on my file to say I wanted the jab, I feel like im banging my head against a brick wall and getting nowhere !!

Anyhoo another day of rest today and over the weekend might help but as soon as I go back to work it will start again !!

We have chilli and rice for dinner tonight, which I will cook in a while (while my foot is not as painful as it will be later) and then put my foot up for the day.

Camelot Im sorry to hear dd has lost her sparkle, lets hops it comes back quickly xx

Thank you all for listening to my moans xx

    Have good days all xx

Good morning from a wet and rather teary mehefinland

Thank you all for you r kind words and thoughts about poor bruisemare. It is appreciated and some comfort too. I must admit that I have never worked so hard as in the last six months as every waking moment seemed to revolve around the needs of my poor girl.
This last few days were particularly difficult and not the result we
    hoped for.
    However life goes on.

Scoobymare has a little companion who we borrowed about a week ago for company for Bruisemare when she went out. Turned out that it was a wise move so at least they had 'met'.

She is a cute little mare called Fairy ; nothing could be further away from my imaginings of a fairy than this one. Built like a brick outhouse and neighs like a very load foghorn! Once we have got over the squeals and heel kicking she will be a good companion until we decide where we go from here. She can stay as long as we want so I suspect she may be with us quite some time.

Sally Labrador cant understand where one has gone and as she is now nearly blind it must be confusing for her.

Need to have my annual battle with the Rayburn soon so better gird up my loins and get on with it

    Hugs and spoons as always

    Morning all

Lovely autumnul day here so I took myself out for a nice long walk before the predicted rain starts. Day off today so wanted to get my steps in early. Picked up a crusty loaf at Sainsburys just because of the smell and the fact it was fresh out of the oven I was looking at the empty shelves first then carried on my shop and the baker came running down the aisles to ask what I wanted then went and got this loaf of heaven....nice customer service. Also got a lovey poppy mug all profits to the legion ...probably the last thing I need so its time for a mug chuck this weekend

I was actually there for some flaked almonds which is the final thing I needed for my first attempt at Christmas cake which I will do maybe next weekend. Been really disappointed with the bought ones the last couple of years so it's time I did my own. I dont do anything by halves though lol so I am going to do mini ones that you cook in a small tin can. That way I can give some as gifts and some for mum and me. Eating a lot of beans at the moment to get enough cans atm :rotfl:

Today is a Friday tidy and another run of chilli jam then work tonight so a busy one.

Hope everyone has a lovely day

Edited to add...sorry about bruisemare mehefin you must miss her loads :(

Aw rubes loads of hugs. make sure you do rest it. Doctors can be so useless I too get a lot of leg pain with neuropathy and all they can offer is addictive strong pain killers which would mean I couldn't work and would be even more foggy than I am normally oh and they would pile weight on too.....refused and they dont like that.

Take care and try an epsom salt foot bath always feels good :)

Morning all..Have a busy morning ahead. Shower, breakfast, washing up, clean kitchen, put away stocking up shopping [ this involves moving things on the shelves around so I can see what we have instead of hiding the biscuits etc on the bottom shelf and then forgetting we have them]
Als have opticians this morning with a replacement for the broken lens...and my siter is coming today, and I have to srop off a massive cushion to the OHs mum. And I was also planning on hoovering the car and giving that a clean on the inside but I fear I may be overeaching the possibilities of time...

Well, the guy who turned up to buy the thing was massive! really tall! and also really lovely, it was a present for his wife on their anniversary and he seemed quite harmless so I just bounced my coffee mug threateningly in case he had any funny ideas....Totally disarmed when he said they'd just spent the week in Wales for half term and it was so beautiful....
I did take the last few bags to the charity shop and when I pulled up outside and got my boot open, they rushed out to take bags off me...Very pleased with that kind of service, also meant I didn't have to scuttle off like a reverse thief...

Mehefin, it's really hard when a pet dies, you continually look for them and are surprised when they aren't there...hugs. Gers, you and my sister must be chucking out soulmates, have a rest now...Nelski, not sure I'd want to be in the vicinity of that many digested beans...;) good luck with the cake baking! My father always used the recipe in the readers Digest ig green book of cooking [the book of the year? or something like that].always moist and lasted for ages..redruby, I'm with you in frustrated spirit. It's really hard to describe how painful it is to someone who'd never had it but for me, it was like someone dragging a scalpel through my soles in mulitple areas. Is there anyw ay you can change your job for a bit, because as you say, it'll only start again as soon as you're walking around... camelot, hugs for your daughter, I can't imgaine how tiring a baby must be..AOD, here's hoping wafts of warm air will speed up your ghostly laundry...TA?....nice to see you Poppy...Hey'all people not posting, hope you're all OK...Frenetic Friday...
