I am asking for a friend, he has got a serious toe nail fungus infection which has spread to other toe nails, does anyone know what's best advised regarding this? is it serious? what's best cream to get or do creams not work? will he have to make appointment to see his doctor?
Any help would be great thank you.

He could see his Dr and get the specialist meds for it, requires toe nail clippings to be sent off for testing to check what it is and also a blood test to ensure his liver is ok prior to taking them and also whilst taking them.
Creams / paint on stuff may not work if it's now spreading.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
Your friend should speak to their pharmacist in the first instance. They know what treatments are proven effective, and are trained to refer on to the family doctor where necessary.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

If it is really bad then because fungal infection can take a very long time to treat and can return. Removing the nail is the only answer. Since your friend's has spread that sounds bad.
Also a warning do not touch the infected nails and put your hands anywhere near your eyes. Yes, it can infect your eyes.0 -
I had the same problem for years, I tried every cream and remedy there was and none of them worked so tell your friend not to waste there money like I did. In the end I went to the doctor who prescribed tablets, I took them for a year and finally it has gone. Its a long job but well worth it in the end!0

I was recommended Emtrix which turned out to be really good. Alongside it I use Vicks Vaporub during the day. I didn't want to be taking antibiotics for six months or longer.0

The aren`t antibiotics they are antifungal tablets. I think maybe the over the counter remedy`s are fine if it hasn`t gone to far, mine was all toes on both feet.0

First things first: get a nail clipping analysed as per NICE guidelines.
The reason is some conditions masquerade as fungal but they are not:

My Dad had a fungal nail infection and tried three different remedies from the pharmacy. None worked. Tablets from the doctor didn’t work. Then he read about Vicks on the internet. He put a blob on every day and worked it in by scrubbing the nail with an old toothbrush. It took a few weeks to clear up completely.0

Or maybe it's well on the way to being sorted in the 3 months since the OP posted...0

Gone in 3 months? Not a likely scenario.0
