Amazon, faulty after 10 months

Daughter bought a head unit for her car last new years eve from Amazon and the order was shipped from a 3rd party seller.
Head unit would not turn on anymore after 8 months of use and she contacted Amazon about it.
Amazon said they would contact the seller but they never replied.
She got back in touch with Amazon who said they would contact the seller again and if they did not reply in 2 weeks would escalate it as an A-Z claim.
2 weeks pass and she contacts them again to be told the seller did not reply and that an A-Z claim was the wrong advice from the last rep she spoke to, said they try again to contact seller.
Still no contact from seller and Amazon say they cannot help either.
I then tried the manufacturer (Xtrons) to see if they were able to help but they said the gaurantee is only valid for purchases directly from them so also cannot help.
I know the retailer is normally responsible and that a report would possibly be needed to prove an inherant fault but who can she go to if nobody is able to help?
Any ideas? or is she stuck with it.
Just to add the old head unit is now back in the car and working and i have checked fuses etc on the head unit and all is ok.
Xtrons said it is probably the Can-bus unit that is faulty and are willing to sell her one for £30.

seller is totaly unresponsive. Item was shipped by Amazon (i believe) so no contact details for them.
Is the seller still trading on Amazon Marketplace? Which from the sound of your OP is where it was bought from and not something sold by amazon.
If they are still selling. You can get the address etc from their page.Life in the slow lane0 -
If you go into your order page have you tried contacting the seller by clicking on the contact seller click?0
