Vacuum Storage Bags

Wasn't sure if this was the right board for this post, but it's not 'techi' enough. In the past, I bought some vacuum storage bags, which basically, were no good to me when they arrived. Not because they were faulty, or a bad product, but because we have a Dyson vacuum cleaner. The hose is far too big to fit the valve. We have one of those batter operated air pumps, which sucks as well, and even that, hasn't got a nozzle that fits. I have since, bought a different type of vacuum storage bag, which comes with it's own pump, but the valves on these, are a totally different size, to the previous ones. I even contacted a company, asking what size the valves are, so I could possibly adapt a piece of hose, but I don't think they understood. They just apologised for my problem, and asked me to send a photo.
What I want to know is, has anyone else had a similar problem, and how did you get round it? I would really like to use these storage bags, instead of them just taking up wasted space.

If you do a search for "vacuum hose reducers", you'll get numerous hits - At least one of these should do for what you need of them.

Got a few power tools that come complete with a reducer, but I've not needed to use one on a storage bag. Found the Dyson nozzle to be a perfect fit (perhaps I've just been lucky with the bags).
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

I use my hand as a seal between vacuum hose and vacuum bags. Its not perfect but it does the job. Beyond that id consider using something like a bike inner tube to connect the valve and hose, again not perfect but you dont really need a perfect seal.

I must be unlucky. I thought the Dyson would fit, that's why I'm trying to find the exact size of the valve, so I can get a reducer. I've tried sealing the bag, with the hose/nozzle inside, but as soon as you remove it, you're letting air in, so it's not that efficient at all.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'll have a look for vacuum hose reducers, and see what I can find.
