Almost any petrol car can be converted to LPG. Companies that do it from new (or used to):
Toyota
Volvo
Vauxhall
Daewoo
any others?0 -
are LPG cars still banned from eurotunnel?
you have to check whether the chancellor will impose duty on LPG. At present it is duty free.
Was considering going for a Volvo LPG. Salesman informed me that the LPG fuel tank is in the tyre well and no spare tyre will be provided with the car. You will only have a tyre weld spray or something similar supplied with the car or call the breakdown service.Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
Well at least i learn something on the way

Toyota Prius, a combination of petrol engine and electric motor driven car. It is eerie driving it sometimes when the electric motor kicks in. It is very quiet. Just wonder about the battery lifeProblem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems

LPG cars might be banned from eurotunnel, it makes no sense because petrol tanks are much easier to break/leak.
LPG cars have to ask permission when booking when travelling by ferry.
LPG is not duty free, it is reduced duty. Duty free LPG is used for household fuel. There would be no way the fuel duty on LPG would be increased significantly because it is a much greener fuel than petrol and diesel. But it would be nice for Gordon Brown to give another five year commitment to LPG.
Volvo: There would be nothing stopping you from supplying & carrying your own spare tyre normal sized or space saver type.0 -

LPG for household fuel is charged at 8% VAT.Wealthsaving - a way of life?0 -
Don't you mean 5%?
Wazza and I were reffering to road fuel duty not VAT. There is a bit of a gray area as to whether VAT is a duty or not, even HMcustoms and excise refer to "VAT and DUTY" implying they are two separate things. Certainly my understanding is that most people refer to VAT as VAT and other duties as DUTY.0 -

Thanks for the correction. LPG for heating is duty free. LPG for car (autogas) attracts a duty of 4.5%Wealthsaving - a way of life?0 -
Casey-here is my twopenny worth.
First check with insurance companies for quotes.
I haven't heard of cars exploding when fitted with lpg.I suspect that the reason for banning them from long tunnels is more to do with the fact that lpg is heavier than air
so will lie at ground level and be slower to disperse.
If you intend to keep the car for some time, suggest you seriously think of dual fuel for the following reason.Oil is at its highest price ever.Experts in America are forecasting that this year oil demand will outstrip production. When that happens,$60 a barrel will be cheap! Those who drive on lpg will then be amongst the few who will be able to afford to drive.Expect to see your dual fuel car in demand. Not only will its second hand value rise,it will be a target for thieves.THe second hand value for petrol and diesel will plummet.
Don't believe me?Go to Google and ask for world oil supply and demand figures.0
