House Removal Companies

Evening all,

Does anyone have experience of house removal companies?

I know there are lots of companies out there (there are hundreds out there if you search on Google) but to get a quote you have to divulge alot of information about yourself (name, phone numbers, home address, e-mail addresses etc ) before an approximate cost will be quoted.

can anyone tell me approximately how much it would cost to move (not a lot of furniture actually) a three bedroom house 150 miles.

The reason i say not a lot of furniture is that we plan to rent the house we're moving out of fully furnished (taking only the items of value to us) while we move to another house.

We would have taken the move on our selves but due to circumstances and prior commitments it's not going to be that easy to do within the time line required.

Also will the christmas holiday have an impact on the price as we plan to move over the christmas holiday.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to any suggestions you may have.

I recently moved using Pickfords, I was really impressed and they we actually cheaper than the local quotes we had by £200. We paid approx £700 fully insured to move from a two bed house 20 or so miles away.

I would suggest that you get a few companies to give you a quote and sooner rather than later, given the time of year you are moving. It took about 15 mins to tell them what we were and weren't taking. It was frustrating as they all wanted to come in the middle of the afternoon, but we did leave it to a week before the move (which I wouldn't recommend).

Whoever you go with I suggest you use a company who are a member of the British Assocation of Removers www.bar.co.uk.

I know it's not very moneysaving of me but moving day is stressful enough without having to move all your belongings yourself.

    Good Luck!
