Quote for a new composite front door.

We currently have a timber front door which looks fine and is only 3 years old but every winter it sticks and is hard to open. We had a quote for a composite door for £1075 but then they said we couldn't have it fitted to our current timber frame. Now they're saying the timber door frame is attached to the windows in the porch and it all has to come out and replaced and will cost £2030.
Does anyone know if this is right? I understand the 2 side panel windows either side of the door but surely not the main side larger window in the porch. They're saying it's now a much bigger job.
I dont know what to do now as thats too much right before Christmas and my children struggle to get out of our front door for school in the winter, it's a nightmare. It really sticks and I struggle to open it. Anyone any tips that has a timber door or does noone even have one these days lol.
Thank you.

A composite door can also stick. It sticks becuase of expansion due to the fact it is solid.
So if that's your reason for changing probably best not to.
Upvc is less likely to as they are hollow panels.
But I'm sure the company told you that ;-)0 -
If the job is more complicated, why not get a carpenter to come and shave down the door a little bit so it has a bit more breathing room?0
