Rogue/cowboy trader getting a refund

Hi all I had a local Warddobe fitter come and quote me for Warddobe’s on the 3rd of August.

I originally found him on mybuilder and in hindsight should have used someone recommended to me.

He came quoted and send me a invoice via email for deposit for which I paid via bacs.

His invoice and contract start date stated 3rd of September.

I had no response from him and this date passed.
Finally a week later he text me apologising and said due to work and some family issues he can’t fit the Warddobe until 22nd September

I have him the benefit of doubt and this date again came and went.

He got back in touch and explained that his daughter was born premature hence the reason for all the delays and guranteed a fitting date for 22nd October due to the backlog of work and offered a £50 discount.

On the fitting date he text and said again due to material delays this time he can’t fulfill this date and he understood I had been messed around and if I didn’t want to wait any longer I would get a full refund.

I’ve asked him for a full refund but he is know saying due to cash flow this will take some time and he is awaiting for a Credit back from the material supply company.

I’m £850 down with no Warddobe’s and what appears to be a serial lier!

What do I do about getting my money back?

Wait until hes got the money or send a LBA then see him in court.

I've had the same thing happen to me by a plumber, got the police on it for what's that's worth

I hate to be that person, but if you need to communicate with this person in writing it's better to explain.

The word is 'Wardrobe'
