Options
MS Society Bournemouth Branch

Only a few days to go to Voting Day, Tuesday 27 November.

We will be on television (ITV Meridian) next Tuesday in the 6 pm programme. Don't worry if you are not in the Meridian TV area, you can still vote!

Voting can be before the programme, from 9 am, or after the programme up to midnight from any telephone in the UK, including mobiles. Up to 10 calls can be made from the same telephone number. These non-profit making calls are low cost from land lines, mobile services may cost more.

A short video appeal in our local online paper from our Chairman Alan Lindsay, with a few scenes in the centre, can be viewed at: - http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/echotv/videonews/index.var.9360.0.0.php

We look forward to you all voting on Tuesday 27 November to give our members, carers and volunteers the enhanced facilities they deserve.
It's not to late to tell more of your friends about our appeal by phone, text or email.

Just tell them to look at the web site: http://www.chnw.org.uk/vote4ms/ or in the Daily Mirror for the telephone number on which to vote. You can get an RSS News Feed message and/or subscribe to receive an email alert with the telephone number through our web site www.vote4ms.org.uk as soon as we know it. We will post the number also on this thread on Tuesday.

Thank you all very much,
Webmaster

  • Hi Everyone,

This is one message that I really hoped I wouldn't have to write.

We have been informed by the Peoples Millions that we failed in our lottery bid and that Bembridge on the Isle of Wight have been successful in obtaining the grant for their bus.

Words, at this time, can't convey my feeling of disappointment, because I honestly believed that we had done enough to secure the win.

It only leaves me now to thank EVERYONE that took the trouble to vote for us, you have been tremendous in your support.

I am just so very sorry that we failed at the last hurdle.

My very best regards to you all,

    Alan Lindsay,
    President,
    MS Society,
    Bournemouth Branch.
[oldgiraffe: There is still a chance that Bournemouth could get the lottery funds as the best runner up at the end of the week will also get the funds they deserve.]
  • so sorry to hear that - its criminal that ms, which is the most common disabling neurological condition, and which primarily affests young adults is so under funded. The governent needs lobbying on this constantly, it is a disgrace that MS research and support is so dependant on attracting charitable funding. Good luck in your bid.
  • Good Day,
Yes we actualy Won a Lottery Grant! :T

On each of four days last week two contenders vied for telephone votes for their projects. On Thursday the branch lost out to what was obviously a worthwhile cause in the public's eye.

On Thursday after that day's winner was announced, the votes received by the four losers were checked. Bournemouth Branch had the most! On Friday at the Osborne Day Centre they were told live on ITV Meridian's evening news that they had won the grant for their 'Making Some Quiet Time' project!

On Monday the branch will express its very grateful thanks for the support it received from people affected by MS across the nations in a Press Release on the MS Society website.

    Thank you all very much,

    Webmaster,
    MS Bournemouth
