Brand new radiators fitted, constantly leaking.

I recently bought a house and needed 7 radiators replacing, got a quote and had the work done, however the day after having them done we noticed one of them leaking, told the guy and he said he would come over the next day, the next day before he arrived, the pipe fell off the radiator and emptied all over the brand new carpet, burning me in the process, rung the guy up about it and he said he would come and take a look, he came and re connected it and cleaned the carpet with a rug doctor, however there is still a small brown mark, 3 weeks later another radiator was leaking, he came again and stopped it leaking, we asked him to check all the other radiators just for peace of mind that they wouldn’t leak, he said he did that the first time he came back and didn’t need to do it again, however 1 hour after he left 3 more radiators started leaking, one of them was the one where the pipe fell off but the other end of the radiator, the other radiator hadn’t leaked before and the third one was the towel rail which he fixed the first time because the valves were faulty which wasn’t because of him, funnily enough we had arranged for another plumber to come give us a quote for a new boiler and he came the same day as they were leaking, asked him to take a look and he said why he thought they were leaking, didn’t fix them as we asked him not to, told the original plumber and he got funny about the fact that someone else had a look and told him what was going on, he now says he will only come and take a look at the 3 leaking radiators if the other plumber puts in writing what he thinks the problems are, I have no confidence in the original plumber coming back to fix it but I will have to pay for someone else to rectify his work now, what can I do? He doesn’t seem bothered that in less than 4 weeks we have had 5 radiators leaking and seems more bothered that we asked someone else to take a look at the leaks and advise.

  • Get out a spanner and check/tweak them all or get the new fitter to do this before/during the fitting of the new boiler.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
