Servicing for electric cars?

I regard it as the cost of keeping the warranty active. One big downside of EVs is that out of warranty repairs to some elements can be very high.
My Kia Soul was £80 12 month service and will be £120 for the 24 month. I wouldnt think of trying to save £20 or £30 on a non dealer and endangering the warranty.
s/h EVs hold their value very well, even going up at the moment, and selling with a warranty included will be a big part of keeping that value up.0 -
Yes, maintaining the battery warranty is my #1 concern. I'm not disputing the valid points from others in this thread re suspension etc, but the battery dying is the thing that will cost me thousands and not hundreds.
The list of items detailed on the Nissan service schedule is literally (1) screen wash, (2) pollen filter, (3) "applicable labour", and (4) brake fluid (major only). They don't list battery, suspension or any other type of check on there, or whether any problems identified as a result of those checks will be covered!
It would be absurd if failing to top up screen wash or replacing a pollen filter really did invalidate my battery warranty or impacts resale value.
So I'm left simply assuming that they will be doing other checks as part of their service... none of which are documented anywhere.0 -
This is "just" a 2018 Leaf -- not a Tesla or anything.
'Nissan' didn't quote you, a certain Nissan dealership did. Ring around them to get quotes. Know what age and mileage you're at and what service it is you need. There'll be brake fluid and the 12V battery to be checked and possibly changed, but more like 3/4 years old.0 -
Did you book online or via phone?
When i phoned up my Kia dealer they offered me £160 for a 24 month service.
Booked online, its £119. Go figure.
Maybe Nissan have soemthing equally weird.0 -
My model S has no required servicing at all to maintain the warranty.0

I finally got the Nissan dealer to:
a) send a copy of the Warranty Booklet with the fine print of the warranty in it (wasn't supplied with the car), and
b) acknowledge that the while the car warranty is linked to servicing, the battery warranty is not and will continue to be valid even if I don't service the car at all.0
