Whirlpool - Faulty Tumble dryer - advice needed

Hi,
Hopefully someone with experience of this may be able to help me,
I had a 5 year old tumble dryer recalled by Indesit 2 years ago, it was on the faulty list and we waited months for an engineer to be available to come and eventually they offered us a new one for £59.
The "new" tumble dryer is just over 2 years old and has now completed stopped working, no lights come on.
I'd read that the Consumer Goods Act 2015 basically stated that goods like this should last longer than this and therefore should be replaced. When I've contacted Whirlpool they said I need to pay for an engineer to come out. Which I don't want to do - I've ended up buying a new one because I needed one. When I mentioned the Consumer Goods Act they just said "sorry but we're not under EU law".
Is there anything further I can do? It feels unfair that I had a working Tumble dryer, which I then had to pay to replace because they recalled it and the replacement has broken in 2 years.
Advice would be greatly appreciated

Purchased Five years ago .
Replacement Two years ago .You purchased for £59 .
In effect Seven years since purchase ??
Your claim regarding CRA and should be replaced is not true .
After 6 months the onus on you is to prove this via an independant report if vendor asks you to .
Whirlpool are wrong in that CRA is not EU law its the UK laws .0 -
Difficult question to answer on when dryer contract started
If they offered a exchange of the faulty dryer to a replacement new machine for £59 then date of sale is effectively 7 years ago as its the original date of purchase
If they offered you a credit for your old dryer and then used your credit note and £59 payment to cover the cost of the new dryer, then a new contract was formed 2 years ago and any legal rights start from that date
Still the dryers over 2 years old and it’s its up to you to prove it’s an inherent fault
CRA 2015 isn’t a free extended warranty or breakdown service and some not so bright people seem to think0 -
OK, thanks for your replies.0
