Dining table repair

Modern oak dining table but with veneer has some damage to the table top. Ideally needs to be sanded down and refinished. I don't want to attempt it myself and the store I bought it from has long since shut down.
I'm looking for recommendations for furniture repair in the West Midlands area, particularly if anyone's had success stories.

Try finding a French Polisher. A bit of a dying art, but they can do wonderful work disguising defects.
I haven't seen the table, but veneers are extremely thin and it may not be possible to sand down and refinish, as any sanding will go right through the veneer. It depends whether it's just the varnish that needs to be sanded off. Even so ...No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I think it's just the varnish. I've googled French Polishing and they seem to be catered for antique restoration. I'll contact a few for quotes and hopefully they'll be interested.0
