PPI enquire to Skipton Mortgages now managed by Amber Homeloans

Hi,
I had contacted Skipton Mortgages (via Skipton PPI address) about a mortgage that I had with them in 1987.
I hadn't heard anything after nearly 8 weeks, so eventually got put through to the right number and was able to confirm who I was and exactly how much I was paying and they were even able to provide me with my account number.
When I was past to the PPI Dept. they said that they had no paper work and that I had to contact the broker otherwise they cannot do anything? I believe the broker has gone out of business and don't even know their name, as this was arranged by my parents and they cannot remember either.
Is there anything that I can do, as Amber Homeloans can clearly see details of the account on their systems and claim that any paperwork would have been destroyed as it over 10 years old so they can't help me?

If you purchased via a broker then forget it.0

Amber Homeloans will not have sold you anything and will have no access to any policy details if you did have MPPI. It will all have been arranged by the broker who is no more, so its time to move on from this oneI work in Data Protection and spend my days dealing with CMC's. Only here trying to help!!0

Brokers were not regulated until Jan 2005. So, you are talking nearly 2 decades earlier. So, this is completely dead in the water.
Thankfully, even if you had MPPI (which isn't that likely seeing as its 1987 and a broker sale), most MPPI complaints via broker/advisers do succeed and are not classed as missold.0
