Miele extended warranty

My Miele washing machine has stopped working mid-cycle. It has washing and water locked inside, so the matter is pretty urgent.

Luckily, I have an extended warranty until 2022. However, the telephone numbers you call are useless - recorded messages, music, endless 'on hold' -- I can't quite believe this of a quality manufacturer.

Has anyone else had problems with Miele and honouring their warranty? You can get straight through of you're buying something or ordering spares, but trying to get your appliance repaired is another matter.

If you've registered the product with Miele, it's far easier to book an engineer appointment through their website:

Of all the appliance manufacturers I deal with, Miele are the most reliable.

Have you checked the filter? Sounds like it is blocked and just needs cleaning.

So, does the machine switch off automatically if the filter is blocked? There is no action when you try to switch on, or press for door open. It's just dead.

Sorry, I thought you'd have checked that before trying to contact Miele, as that won't be covered under warranty (and would mean you incurring a call out charge)

Yes, the filter being blocked stops the machine from operating. If it kept running whilst blocked you'd have a much bigger problem!

Check the filter and if that doesn't solve the issue, then call Miele.

  • Had a similar problem with a blocked filter on our Bosch w/m.

Doesn't your owner's manual (hard copy or online) contain a troubleshooting section and instructions about routine maintenance? eg keeping the filter clean?

Also, check the fuse before calling out an engineer!

There is another thread on here about how bad their customer service is

fuses, filter and power supply checked. All OK. Repair man coming out on Friday. Over the phone, he told us how to open the door even without power, so the wet washing at least has been removed safely.

Another good reason to read the troubleshooting section of the manual. When this happened to our Bosch, it told us how to locate and operate the emergency door release. (And I would recommend anyone with a w/m to know how to do this beforehand! We only read the manual after we had the problem...)
