I am an existing BT customer and have just had been told that I will lose the unlimited weekend calls as do all existing customers. I also asked whether this constituted a change that allows me to exit the contract to be told it does not.

You should check that against the OFCOM rules .
Thanks, I have checked it and if the change is not a price increase but a removal that constitutes a price increase I may have a case. I've just checked the last bill and paying for previously free services will cost me £11 a month if the minutes are repeated every month.

I thought Virgin Media was a sneaky nasty company but it seems BT are as well. I'm now stuck on a contract that I have had for 2 months and an important part is no longer available to me. I'm moving to a rural area so using a mobile as an only phone is not an option.

It is incorrect to say that "all existing BT customers are losing inclusive weekend calls".

That call package is no longer available for new customers, and it cannot be swapped to by existing customers who are already on some other BT call package, but those customers who are already on it can retain it UNLESS they make some other change to their overall contract with BT, then it will no longer be available as part of that new deal.

Presumably you have made some other change that has triggered the latter circumstance, such as moving to a new address and therefore, effectively, starting a new contract?
  • I am currently on anytime calls and DO use my landline. The 500 minutes anytime would suit me fine as I normally use 50-100 max minutes per month, seems cheaper than the existing anytime package, and now includes mobiles. Broadband 18 month contract runs its time in February when my line saver also needs renewing. Watching with interest.

If the problem is little or no reception in the house then you should check whether your phone has wifi calling. This has solved my problem of living in a rural area and not being able to use the phone in the house.

    Assuming that you have a) a mobile phone and b) wi-fi ;)
