Spark Energy Are Switching Me To Them W/Out My Knowledge
Hi everyone. I need to know what to do here, any help is appreciated.
I've received an email from my electricity supplier EDF Energy. The email is saying that they are sorry that I am leaving them for another energy supplier. I hadn't signed up for any other supplier so I rang EDF to ask what this was about. EDF have confirmed that I am moving to Spark Energy and they have told me that they can't stop this and that I have to contact Spark.
I phoned spark and they claimed that they couldn't find my address and said it wasn't coming up on the national database. They did mention the building next door. They have told me that the building manager of my building has requested that my flat be moved from EDF to Spark Energy. The name of the building manager is Sequins Connells which sounds totally made up.
I did go next door and ask but they don't know anything about this. The thing is even if it had been next door and the address was mixed up it doesn't explain how Spark have my email address. The particular email address is one that I only use for business so my bank, EDF, and companies like shops have this.
In order to find out whats going on they asked for the ID number of my electric meter which I refused to give them. It seems from a google search that Spark Energy is very shady.
Can anyone tell me what to do? I don't want to give Spark any info but if I don't do anything I will be switched to them.
Does this sound like a genuine mistake or is something bad going on here?
Please help me forum,
CTX.

Simply tell your existing supplier, EDF, to block the attempted switch if you don't want it to go ahead.
- that was the purpose of them contavting you
Surprised they didn't offer this when you contacted EDF as a result of their communication :cool:0 -

....
Sequence (UK) Limited is a national network of estate agents, which operates under a number of brand names. It is part of the Connells Group.

One of those brand names might ring a bell,0 -
Thank You! Looks like its a mistake. Someone has moved into the building next door with the exact same flat number as my flat in this building and it was Sequence Collins that moved them in there. They have obviously messed up! They are probably getting commission for switching new tenants to Spark Energy that are on pre-payment meters and they have put in my address instead of next door.
Its a bit late now but I'll contact them first thing in the morning.
So happy its a mistake. Thanks for the replies everyone! :T0
