Hob cut out size

Hi all
I have a 77cm electric hob atm which has a cutout of 75cm x 49cm approx. Hob dimensions are 77cm x 51cm.
I want to replace it with a gas hob but I can't find any 77cm hobs - odd size? Only 1-2 manufacturers make identical size ones with one called AnmasHome(could find it only on ebay) which is ~ £150 and KitchenAid which is ~ £1300!
I haven't heard of Anmas and can't afford the other:-)
However, plenty of 75cm hobs are available but all of them show the cut out size as 56cm x 48cm or thereabouts.
Is this the maximum size of the cut out? If I try fitting such a hob will it just fall through the 75cm wide cut out that I have now?
It's a granite worktop with a built-in oven below it.
Thanks!

Try looking at the website of the manufacturer of your current hob. They may do a direct replacement.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

They do (Baumatic) but it's discontinued.0

Have you looked at ao.com ? They had a huge selection when I looked before.
If its a granite and you really couldn't find the right size. Speak to a worktop company locally to get the to glue a 1 to 2 cm piece of granite to one side. Depending on the current cut prescion and the skill of the person doing its possible to make the repair queit seamless based on my experiece of worktops0 -

Have looked at all - ao, appliancesdirect, currys etc but nothing.
If te cutout size needs to be no bigger than 56cm wide, then don't I need a lot more than 1 to 2 cm granite pieces to cover the current 75cm cut?0 -
It doesn't say that it has to be no bigger than 56. This is the minimum i imagine.
If its 75 and the cutout is 75 cm. You maybe able to glue pieces of granite on either side to support it better and the hob should hide everything. Then you will just seal it with the special gum.
It terms of safety, do not take my word, the gas engineer who will install it will assess everything.
If you wanted to glue it, look for the right stone adhesive and glue in the corner so its supported from 2 sides. Take note that The liquid resin adhesive could be very messy, take precautions and watch some videos online before attempting yourself.0 -
No I'm not going to do it myself, will need a gas safe engineer in any case.
As a side question, induction hobs are available in this size, I think. Do they offer the same ability to turn up/down heat as fast as gas cookers? That is our main requirement - the electric hob takes forever to heat up and then to go down to a lower level.
If yes then I may go for that. I know I'll have to change a few utensils but won't have to mess around with the top.
Thanks for your help.0 -

I've said it before - Induction hobs are the next best thing to gas for speed of heating and controllability. They also have a number of safety features not found on gas hobs. e.g. If you take the pan off the heat zone, no flame to set fire to clothing or anything flammable. The heat zone will also shut down if a pan is not detected after a set period of time.
Some induction hobs will pulse the heat at low settings (mine certainly does), which can make low simmering tricky - Best to use a thick, heavy pan when doing this.
You'll also need a beefy electrical supply for any induction hob with more than two zones - Avoid any fitted with a 13A plug, or advertised as "plug & go".Her courage will change the world.

If it's say a 4 zone electric hob at the moment, won't the supply for that feed a 4 zone induction hob?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

If you already have a conventional hob hard wired in, the supply should be suitable for an induction hob. The comment regarding "plug & go" hobs was a warning based on this thread - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6057077/induction-hob-woesHer courage will change the world.
