Not sure if this is the right bit of the forum but hoping the collective wisdom will set me right.
I have been using a small thermos flask for tea. I drink mine black and the thermos is getting stained (internally) from the tannin. Any ideas on how to clean the stain off?

I used steradent on a thermos mug, and it came up as though it was brand new.
Two tablets in the bottom, boiling water added from a kettle, and left it overnight.0 -
Seems a bit wasteful to bother to be honest. If it does not come of with a simple wash in the sink it is not doing anyy harm.0

It's tannin, tastes nasty, looks rubbish and is unnecessary. Look what it does to people's teeth and tea cups / mugs. Yeugh.
A simple soak every so often is all it takes, easier than washing it.0 -
Thanks all. The tannin stain looks horrible and should be cleaned just for that reason, but I think it will transmit the taste to other liquids, so I want rid for that reason too.0

Bicarb. Rinse wellmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Yup, bicarb of soda added to boiling water, close flask, let it sit until water cold then rinse. The tanin comes off in strips.0
